BRG Announces Cause for a Celebration Nonprofit Winner

In June, we kicked off, Cause for a Celebration, in honor of BRG’s 15th anniversary. Through, Cause for a Celebration, BRG team members identified a local nonprofit that is important to them to be eligible to receive a $15,000 donation from BRG.

Over three months, team members earned “Better Living” points through physical activity, mindfulness and volunteering that they could put towards one of more nonprofits at the end of the program to receive the donation from BRG.

After much anticipation, we are excited to announce that the nonprofit with the most votes and points that will receive a $15,000 donation from BRG is …

Girls Inspired and Ready to Lead, Inc. was founded in 2010 in Fairfax, Virginia by Danielle Blunt Craddock. Danielle first started mentoring girls in college and continued after she graduated. Through mentoring, Danielle realized that teenage girls face challenges, including low academic achievement, low self-esteem, bullying, exposure to negative images of women in the media, homelessness and more, that negatively impact them during an important physical, emotional and psychological development phase of their lives. To help girls overcome these challenges and expand her mentoring efforts, Danielle formed GIRL.

GIRL’s mission is to mentor and empower teen girls for future success through promoting:

1. Academic excellence
2. Leadership skills
3. Community service
4. Career exploration
5. Self–esteem

Through its workshops and activities, GIRL provides educational and social enrichment opportunities and positive role models so girls can feel confident in themselves, and supported in achieving their dreams.

We are honored to support a local nonprofit organization that is empowering the girls of today so that they can become the leaders of tomorrow.
