As the COVID-19 pandemic impacted communities around the world, people were avoiding hospitals when faced with a medical emergency. SCAI saw a dangerous and potentially deadly side-effect of COVID-19 emerging: avoidance of care possibly leading to serious cardiovascular illnesses, complications, and fatalities. SCAI came to BRG to help develop and deploy a multi-faceted, engaging consumer awareness campaign to reach at risk-families and individuals to remind them that when it comes to cardiac care, even during a pandemic, Seconds Still Count.
BRG secured 2,000+ national and local placements for key experts, leveraged digital tools across social and streaming platforms, and distributed a digital toolkit to hospitals. Based on launch results, SCAI is extending this campaign with a second phase which will include an emphasis on health equity, focusing on Black and Latinx communities through grassroots outreach within faith communities, and utilizing SMS messaging to reach audiences who may not have access or trust around traditional communication channels.
